Caravan Parks & Swimming Pools

Burdekin Shire Council has two caravan parks – Burdekin Cascades Caravan Park, Ayr and Home Hill Caravan Park, Home Hill. These parks operate under management contracts.  

The Burdekin community are blessed with four swimming pools located in Ayr, Home Hill, Clare and Millaroo.  Ayr and Home Hill pools operate under management contracts, while Clare and Millaroo pools are looked after by Council.  

It is important to note that there are no lifeguards on duty at the Clare and Millaroo pools.

Burdekin Cascades Caravan Park

Burdekin Cascades Caravan Park welcomes travellers with a variety of accommodation options.

The Burdekin Cascades Caravan Park has caravan (including drive through) and camping sites as well as a variety of on-site accommodation, both ensuited and non-ensuited, including facilities suitable for travellers with disabilities.

The Park offers both short term and long term sites and has on-site a camp kitchen, barbecue area, two amenity blocks and a dump point.  Pets are allowed, please advise when booking.

Burdekin Cascades Caravan Park is located on the Bruce Highway next to the Ayr Swimming Pool and just two blocks from the Ayr Post Office, Burdekin Theatre and the main Ayr shopping centre.

Home Hill Caravan Park

Home Hill Caravan Park is a small park located just a few blocks from the highway providing a quiet place for you to relax. 

The Park has caravan and camping sites as well as on-site ensuited accommodation.  The amenity block includes facilities suitable for travellers with disabilities.

The Park offers short term and long term sites, includes drive through sites and has on site a barbecue area and a dump point.  Pets are allowed, please advise when booking.

Home Hill Caravan Park is located next to the Home Hill Swimming Pool and visitors have free access to the pool during their stay. It is just a five minute walk to the main shops on Eighth Avenue (Bruce Highway).

Ayr Swimming Pool

Ayr Swimming Pool consists of a 50m pool and a separate children's wading pool. Both pools have shade cover, the main pool is covered only in the shallow end.

A lifeguard is on duty at all times that the pool is operating.

Parents please note that children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult over the age of 18 years.

A kiosk is available on-site selling snack foods including cold drinks.

The pool is available for hire for private functions, for more information please speak to the Managers, Sage and Victoria on site or via telephone on 4783 2969.

The Ayr Swimming Pool is closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.  Public holidays the opening hours are 9.00am - 5.00pm.

The Ayr Swimming Pool may close from 1 May to 31 August each year due to the low water temperature.

Home Hill Swimming Pool

Home Hill Swimming Pool consists of a 50.3 m (55 yard) pool and a separate children's wading pool. Both pools have shade cover, the main pool is covered only in the shallow end.  The Home Hill Pool is serviced with artesian water that maintains a consistent water temperature of around 27oC.  

A lifeguard is on duty at all times that the pool is operating.

Parents please note that children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or responsible adult over the age of 18 years.

A kiosk is available on-site selling snack foods including cold drinks.

The pool is available for hire for private functions, for more information please speak to the Managers, Lloyd and Lisa on site or via telephone 4782 2498.

Clare Swimming Pool

Clare Pool is a 25m pool with shadecover over the shallow end.  This pool operates differrently in that users are required to sign an Agreement and pay a fee to access the Pool.

There is no lifeguard on duty at this pool.

The pool is open for use from 7.00am to 7.00pm during the summer season from 1 September to 30 April each year.

Children under the age of 12 years must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or a responsible adult over the age of 18 years.

Access and Fees

Clare residents are able to obtain a key by paying a seasonal access fee to the Clare Pool commitee which gives them access to this pool at their convenience.

Millaroo Swimming Pool

Millaroo Pool is a 25m pool with shadecover over the shallow end.  This pool operates differrently in that users are required to sign an Agreement and pay a fee to access the Pool.
