Membership

Joining
Library membership is free to all Queensland residents with identification (Drivers licence, Healthcare card, electricity bill etc). Children under the age of 18 must be endorsed by a parent or guardian with identification.
Library members have access to a free Library Members Wi-Fi network and one hour’s free library computer access per day.
To join, just bring in suitable I.D. We will issue you with a library card and you’re ready to start borrowing and enjoying the benefits from both Burdekin Library and the Home Hill Branch Library.
Visitor Membership
International and interstate visitors are offered a visitor membership that requires proof of identity and current residency, as well as a $25 non-refundable fee.
Visitor members have the same computer and Wi-Fi privileges as ordinary members.
To join just bring in suitable I.D. (passport/licence) and your $25.00, we will issue you with a library card and you’re ready to start borrowing and enjoying the benefits from both Burdekin Library and the Home Hill Branch Library.
Online Membership
If you don't want to borrow items from our physical collections, you can join as an online member to just access our digital collections. These are available through our digital platforms - Borrowbox, hoopla, OverDrive and Wheelers. For more information on these products, visit our webpages on e-books and e-movies.
Just visit the Burdekin Library catalogue and select the Join Online option from the menu on the left. Complete the details in the online form and you can begin borrowing immediately.
Should you want to borrow from our physical collections, it's easy to update your details in either branch by providing suitable I.D. to the friendly staff on the circulation desk.
Borrowing
Your membership card is necessary to borrow.
Ordinary members may borrow 18 items for 4 weeks.
Visitors may borrow 2 items for 4 weeks.
We send reminders about reservations or overdue items via letter, email or SMS messaging.
Once you have your membership card, make your selection and bring them to the friendly staff at the Customer Service Desk, you will receive a receipt with the due date. Enjoy!
Renewing
You can renew your loans any time online and it’s easy!
Log in to your account on the Burdekin Library catalogue with your library card number and password (your date of birth - DDMMYYYY) and follow the prompts. You may not be able to renew your items if you have already renewed them once, if there is a reservation on an item, or if they are overdue by more than two months.
Of course, you can always give us a call or visit us in person to renew your items.
Returning
Borrowed items can be returned to the circulation desk in either branch during opening hours. Each branch has an external after-hours returns chute for your convenience.
