Council Reminds Burdekin to Recycle Right
Council is reminding Burdekin residents of the importance of recycling right to help build a greener and more sustainable community.
Proper recycling practices not only reduce waste and conserve resources, but also help to protect the environment and promote a healthy community.
The Council encourages all residents to follow the simple guidelines when recycling. Know what can and cannot be recycled, rinse all recyclable containers before placing them in the recycling bin to prevent contamination, and flatten cardboard boxes to save space. Remember, do not include plastic bags, soft plastics, or other non-recyclable materials in the recycling bin. Details for recycling right can be found on Council’s website or collect a copy at Council’s customer service.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin reminds residents of the importance of recycling right to create a cleaner and more sustainable community.
"We all have a responsibility to recycle properly and take care of our environment and it's important to remember that putting non-recyclable items in the recycling bin can cause contamination, which can result in perfectly good recyclables going to waste," said Cr McLaughlin.
“By taking the time to learn what can and cannot be recycled and following simple guidelines, we can all do our part to protect the environment.
“We need to work together to prevent contamination and ensure that our recycling efforts are effective to reduce waste, conserve resources, and create a cleaner and more sustainable community.
“I encourage all Burdekin residents to do their part and join us in this important effort."
