Cleanaway suspends waste collection services
The Burdekin Shire Council would like to inform the residents that the waste collection services provided by Cleanaway will be suspended for tomorrow, Thursday 25 January...
...due to the severe weather event expected to hit the coast.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said Cleanaway has advised Council that it is potentially not safe for their staff and vehicles to operate during this time.
"We are working closely with Cleanaway to ensure that the waste collection services will resume as soon as possible on Friday or Saturday if it is safe to do so, and that any missed collections will be caught up in a timely manner," Cr McLaughlin said.
“Ensure you secure your bins and any loose items that may be blown away by the strong winds.”
Council reminds residents that the Ayr and Home Hill transfer stations and the Kirknie landfill are open today, Wednesday 24 January, for anyone who needs to dispose of their waste urgently. Council appreciates the patience and support of residents during this time.
