2024 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony Postponed
Burdekin Shire Council has announced the 2024 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony scheduled for Friday 26 January have been postponed due to the current weather forecast.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said that due to the tropical low that is expected to cross the coast over the coming days, Council has made the decision to postpone the event.
"We are proud of our Australia Day honours and our soon to be new Australians, and we look forward to celebrating them at a later date when the weather conditions improve.
“Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause to our award recipients, new citizens and guests.
“A new date and time for the Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony will be announced as soon as possible.”
