2024 Australia Day Award Nominees
The Burdekin Shire Council invites the community to join the 2024 Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony at the Burdekin Memorial Hall.
The ceremony will start at 6:00pm, with doors opening at 5:30pm, celebrating the achievements and contributions of local residents and organisations, as well as welcoming the Burdekin’s newest Australian Citizens.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said she is looking forward to honouring the nominees and recipients of the 2024 Australia Day Awards.
“These awards recognise the outstanding service and dedication of individuals and groups who make our shire a better place to live. They are role models for us all and deserve our gratitude and appreciation,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“The Australia Day Awards ceremony is a great opportunity to celebrate our community spirit and our diversity. It is also a chance to reflect on what it means to be Australian and to acknowledge our history, our culture and our future.
“Burdekin Shire Council’s Australia Day Awards Ceremony is a free event with morning tea provided following the ceremony, however tickets must be pre-booked through the Burdekin Theatre.
