Are you the next Youth Council representative?
The Burdekin Shire Youth Council is looking for new representatives to join its team of young leaders and advocate for youth.
If you are between 12 and 21 years old and have a passion for making a difference in your community, this is your chance to get involved.
2023 Burdekin Shire Youth Mayor Zavier Wood said the Youth Council meets once a month to discuss issues affecting young people, plan events and activities as well as welcomes guest speakers.
“The next meeting will be on Monday 26 February at 3:30pm at the Burdekin Shire Council Chambers. You are welcome to attend and find out more about the Youth Council and how you can apply,” Mr Wood said.
“One of the exciting projects that the Youth Council is working on is the NQ Fast Track Talent Showcase, a regional talent competition that will feature local performers and special guests. As a Youth Council member, you will have the opportunity to volunteer in various roles, such as helping with registrations, backstage support, and guest relations.
“The Burdekin Shire Youth Council is a great way to develop your skills, meet new people, and have fun while making a positive impact on your community.
“Members also get to volunteer at a variety of community events throughout the year.”
